Prensa Latina reported that the 1,25 km-long bridge
with six tracks
and a four-way tunnel opened the traffic this week to the city of Ho
Chi Minh.
In addition to relieving the traffic jam in the city, the height of
this impressive piece of engineering allows the passing of cargo
ships along the river.
Top political and state authorities participated in the inauguration
of the bridge and recognized the contribution of Cuban engineers who
oversaw the construction works.
The Thu Thiem is part of a 363-million dollar project
for the opening of 10 new bridges.
