The Swazi Minister, in a 6-day visit to the Caribbean nation following an invitation made by his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez, was accompanied at the ceremony by Marcos Rodriguez, Foreign Affairs deputy Minister.

Chiyinsimbi Dlamani in this his first trip to Cuba, said the main objective of his visit is to strengthen the excellent relation between the two nations. He will also participate at the 3rd Session of the Cuba-Swaziland Intergovernmental Joint Commission.

The two countries established diplomatic relations in September 1995, and they have been based on friendship and respect to sovereignty. These relations were increased in 2005 with the signing of cooperation agreements in the health and education fields.

Swaziland, as part of its foreign policy, has always supported the Cuban resolutions at the United Nations demanding the lifting of the US economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba.
