Gerard Depardieu in Havana to Celebrate Fidel's Birthday

Dec 1 (ACN) "How could I miss this opportunity? Fidel, much more than a
man, is a great idea," said French actor Gerard Depardieu upon arriving
at the Havana Convention Center on Thursday.
The actor drew immediate media attention from his visit to Cuba to
attend celebrations for Fidel Castro's 80th birthday, reported Granma
newspaper.
"An idea is more important than a man; and it is the man itself. That's
why I'm here, in a natural and consistent way," said the actor.
Depardieu took part in the Memory and Future: Cuba and Fidel Colloquium,
a space for reflection on the life's work of the Cuban leader.
The actor came along with Roger Lannier, Michel Reybier and Gerard
Bourgoin, French business executives that maintain a sustained
commercial relationship with the island.
This was not Depardieu's first trip to Cuba. "I've been to the island 15
times and always discover new things."
